So we have this truck that keeps overheating while idling but, when you run the engine at higher rpms it starts cooling down quickly any idea on what it might be?

is your fan clutch engaging at idle? if you have low power-steering fluid, it will not engage the fan even though it looks like its spinning. But when you rev it up, it will send more fluid to the clutch and then engage it. I would start there.

Also check that both small hoses on the surge tank are routed OVER the air intake hose. They can get air locked and coolant will not flow.

I've had these lines get clogged with silicone (because Marines use it on water pump replacement for some reason) and cause the truck to overheat. This usually happens at high load though. Your point is a great one to point out!
