ANYWAYS IT DOESNT WORK AT ALL, I GOT POWER TO A AND D ON THE HARNESS TO THE TACH AND FOLLOW THE METAL MESH WRAP ALL THE WAY FROM TRANSFER SENSOR TO THE TACH ALL PLUGS ARE CONNECTED. ANY IDEAS/ DIFFERENT TMS OR MAYBE YOU'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM?

Something you need to think about.... The gauge acts under power to go up and down.... a quick way to tes the gauge to see if it is working properly is to take a known good power sorce and apply it to the positive terminal and ground the negative out completly. this will tell you if the gauge is good or not. more than likley the gauge is defecive if you have power to the gauge and it is not responding.

We figured it out ended up being the wire in the harness from tach to power was cut at alternator just recrimped end and it worked.

The most common problem we have found that causes the RPM gauge not to work is either the voltage regulator on the alternator, or the PCB. If it's just the rpm gauge not working most likely the voltage regulator, if more gauges are out; usually the PCB. We've very rarely had an issue with it being the sensor or the actual RPM guage.
