Transfer case?

Postby MGySgtMaj Larry » 01 Feb 2017, 16:56

Lifted all tires off the ground.
Transfer and gear sequence went as such and resulted in the following.
high: drive- only front tires would spin. reverse- all tires would spin slowly.
High lock: same as above.
Low: drive- front p/s and rear d/s would spin, reverse- all tires would spin.

For every sequence even while throttling tires would spin at a slower speed and vehicle would not shift.

what is the level of dextron in the transmission? if it's over filled, that could be your problem.
did you reset the tranny? is it the blue chip? do you have fluid at all? is it a new tranny or transfer? what error codes are throwing?
have you tried to electronically shift it?

pretty much, what have you done so far with troubleshooting?

Fluid was fine at optimal running temp, Tranny was reset, Blue chip was fine. Transmission & transfer were replaced, and no error codes were being thrown up
Super Shifter- passed the solenoid test, passed the pressure switch test, failed the torque converter stall test, and OBD scan displayed 59: Transmission fluid temp (TFT) circuit high, 81: 2-3 shift solenoid circuit fault.

If TCM is the problem try these NIIN's. The type of vehicle was not mentioned so with an implication of HMMWV.

Updated TCM (small one with PROM hard wired in)
TCM turbo 01-579-2302
TCM non-turbo 01-579-1379
3523/3521/0411 MECHANIC FOR 39+ YEARS RECERTIFIED ASE MASTER/L1

was it the tcm? I'm I&I in boise Idaho and we have a MRC that wont shift. I'm just coming back from career course and picking up the pieces. I think the tcm doesn't match the transmission. someone said something about the torque converter not being filled. just trying to see what it might be. also, does anyone know how to get the dlc to plug into the tcm. I'm all types of lost in the sauce.....

Has there been any update on this?

There is a new Transmission NSN for HMMWVs. One Transmission to replace both previous versions. I wonder if this is part of a solution I&L implemented with the consolidation of the TCM NIINs as well?

If anyone has input, I know others would appreciate the info.
