transporting troops on Hwy

Postby degar1877 » 30 Oct 2012, 07:08

I recently just arrived to an I&I duty station and I was trying to find the safety message or order stating that we can no longer transport Marines in back of a 7-ton on the Hwy. I've looked around, and couldn't find it. I also looked in MCO 5100.19E w/ch3. I was informed it was in that order, but did not see it by any chance dose anybody know where I could find it?

Thanks...

Hey brother,
we are still in the works for this answer. I contacted MGySgt Jones and MSgt Murphey along with a counterpart at the schoolhouse. All are looking for the location in writing for what you need. I will post as soon as I get it. Thanks for coming on the site!

Ok, I believe we got it thanks to the help of some outstanding senior leaders:

I MEF Policy (ATTACHED) as follows;

Paragraph 3.F.2 States the following; PASSENGERS WILL NOT BE TRANSPORTED IN THE CARGO AREA OF A TACTICAL VEHICLE OFF-BASE. THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE IS THE REQUIREMENT FOR ONE "BRAKE WATCHER" WHILE TOWING THE M777 HOWITZER.

The order for this is MCO 5100.19F Drive Safe:

It states in chapter 10-4 para 19 : "With the exception of tactical operation, personnel may not be transported on highways in tactical vehicles."

Meaning, if you aren't driver or A-Driver, you cannot be in the vehicle.

Hope this helps
