M1097A2 Transmission?

Postby mjsmyer » 11 May 2011, 14:48

Hey all we have a M1097A2 with a tranny problem. It was inducted for the transmission not shifting ok no problem swap the trans and go for a test drive it doesnt shift stays in one gear. So we start troubleshooting, pulling codes 59, 73, 81, 82. Swap out the TCM and no codes come up. Put it in high lock one, gear then low lock it changes one gear. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check to see that the blue chip in the new tcm matches the one in the old one. I have seen a few where that ended up being the problem. Or a bad wire or connection at the j2 connector

Update: Now were messing with the TPS. We did the adjustment last night (so tedious to get the voltage to be exact) and today we will test drive and see what happens. We checked J2 everything seemed fine.

we had the same problem a while back.. sorry i didnt check been kinda busy.. there is an AM general cheat cheat manual that diagnoses you to check and verify exactly that.. ill see if i can post up a pic.. pm me if i forget ...

by the way... dont clear the codes if you havent fixed it.. all it does makes you start from scratch.. the codes give you a great place to start.. and sometimes the codes stay stored in there and need to be cleared... such as mtvr codes... (QC should be clearing these)
