I have to say, Utilities is done the same way that every other maintenance commodity does their letters.
I've only noticed one thing regarding inventory control with utilities. You need to create a system where the reels and cables are properly associated to designated panels. I have found that "serializing" them is easiest and putting them in pen in the remarks column.
